A Values Revolution: Activating every Ghanaian for national transformation Part 2

We cannot be swept off by the waves of perversion and moral bankruptcy from distant shores just because that is what is in vogue. Great empires that survived many wars collapsed when societal values collapsed.

I did an article on ‘what does it mean to be Ghanaian’ in February of this year and said ‘An untrained citizenry are captives of negative attitudes. A man with a degree but dripping with negative attitudes is not a match for a counterpart who has nothing but great attitudes. There has to be a values revolution. Every parent, teacher, supervisor, managers of state intuitions and private organizations, leaders of faith based organizations and political leaders must model attitudes that sustains progressive thinking and development. Right attitudes are more valuable than natural resources. This must become the current national emphasis. It is intangible progress that leads to empirical progress.’  No natural resource can offset the liability of negative attitudes.

A National Attitude of Peace
A national disposition of peace goes beyond political peace. Political peace is not guaranteed if personal peace is vague. The average Ghanaian is unsettled, worried and impatient. Heart peace is a deep knowing of your correct alignment with God which impacts your outlook on life. This alignment then becomes an anchor for your soul in turbulent times.

You must be calm if you must control chaos. However, many of the attempts we make in taming the circumstances of our life stem from a troubled soul. This is the reason for our ineffectiveness in mastering our environment. Our personal and national interventions are curative and not strategic and creative.

You cannot sustain a national development and prosperity agenda when your nationals are afflicted with negative attitudes. National leadership must get into the lab and come up with an antibiotic for negative attitudes in our nation.

The entire nation must be a serene place for executing big dreams.

A National Attitude of Patience
You must know what you want in life and how to get or produce it. If you do not know this, you will be impatient and susceptible to all kinds of traps. You will make damaging decisions as a result. The ancient and timeless virtue of hard work, honesty, time, prompt action etc. must be deliberately propagated as a national tactic. Once we are on the right track, patience becomes an inextinguishable fire for accomplishment. Make a commitment to be a bit more Patient behind the wheels, at school, at home, and in the office. Skills are devalued by negative attitudes.

The nebulous meaning of success which has given rise to the greedy and unethical accumulation of things, must give way to a redefinition of success. Making a difference locally, nationally or globally as a personality of influence, is what success is.

Rule and subdue the earth!
