Born Again to do the Impossible

Most of us are familiar with the popular account of the conversation between Jesus and Nicodemus. Nicodemus came to Jesus one night to probe into the secrets of the miracles that Jesus was doing. The secret Jesus revealed to Nicodemus is as true today as it was then, concerning the life of the supernatural.

John 3: 2-6
“The same came to Jesus by night, and said unto him, Rabbi, we know that thou art a teacher come from God: for no man can do these miracles that thou doest, except God be with him.
3 Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God.
4 Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother\’s womb, and be born?
5 Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.
6 That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit”.

Nicodemus was right. Jesus came from God. However as far as he was concerned this relationship was an exclusive privilege for Jesus – “no man can do these miracles that thou doest except God be with him.”
In His response in verse 3, Jesus explained to Nicodemus that the reason He came from God was to make it possible for man to be born again, in order for man to enjoy that same relationship He (Jesus) had with the father. “Verily verily I say unto thee, except a man be born again, he cannot see the Kingdom of God.” If a man becomes born again he is the very child of God. He can now live and function in the realm (Kingdom) of God. Miracles are the natural result of the impact of the realm of God on the earth. Jesus, the son of God did what no man could do, as Nicodemus admitted. In the same vein, being born again qualifies you to do the impossible. Do not settle for the easy way in life; be determined to be all that God called you to be.

The reason most believers are not living in this reality is that they allow their circumstances and their past, rather than the Word of God, to influence their thinking. This need not be, as you will see from the followings scripture.

2 Corinthians 5:17 – Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

The use of the Greek word kainos (pronounced kaheenos) translated ‘new’ connotes an unprecedented creature, or species. When you become born again you are a brand new person inside (2 Corinthians 5:17- The Living Bible). This is what God is saying about you. You may not feel any differently than you did before you became born again, but that does not change the truth of what you have become in Christ.
Let me end by adding that to function in the realm of miraculous, you need to nurture your relationship with your heavenly father, through meditation in the Word and continual prayer (2 Peter 2:2). If you make this your lifestyle, it will only be a matter of time when you see yourself doing the impossible – just like Jesus!
